True Love

The question is does true love exist. When does one experience it. I believe each of us can experience true love when we are innocent. Generally we are all innocent in our teens.. When you love someone then, you truly love that person. You don't think about the future or try to reason things in any manner. You are ready to do anything for that person.You just simply love that person. A lot of grownups tell what we experience in our adolescence is just infatuation and you experience true love when you are mature. I show all these people my finger because this is a flawed logic. When we get older, we become mature and wise. We reason out everything. By the time we are in our mid twenties, we have gone through quite a lot in life: success in academics/work, disappointments about missed opportunities, heartbreak(s). The effect of all these factors is that we filter out a potential partner based on what we have been through. Ofcourse that initial attraction is always required even before we segregate potential partners but what we feel then is not the same as what we do when we are innocent. Everytime you have a heartbreak, you become a stronger individual but a part of you dies with it. You move on, but you don't love someone the way you used to earlier. Some of us(the lucky ones) are still innocent at heart even when we age. So if you think you still have an innocent mind, then true love might be around the corner :)

Little things in life

What makes life worth living?

Is it money, is it success or is it the joy of little things.

Well... for me its the little things. I have listed down things which I just cant forget..

1)Shouting patriotic slogans for a cause on a busy MG Road

2)Dancing like crazy for 5 hours non stop on my first outing to a disc which caused cramps in my fingers!

3)The first kiss... A total disaster

4)My helplessness at crushing on every good(seemingly effortless and graceful) dancer(gal) I come across every time

5)My(Neo) conversations with Trinity while in college.

6)My attempt to propose a fourth year senior in college while in first year.... I succeeded .

7)A night out with friends on Bangalore roads with cops chasing us.From a dhaba to The Leela to railway station!

8)Learning my first bboying move

9)Three days of non stop fun in Maldives

10)The thrill at getting flashing LEDs fitted to my bike

11) Sean Kingston concert in Hard Rock Cafe

12)Teaching tricks of fast arithmetic to my mentee in Mentor Together

13)Receiving a salsa cap as a memento from my first salsa teacher for being his best student

14)The attention I received when I wore my flashing t shirt for the first time.

15)Time spent in promoting our department fest while in college..especially in MCC

Women and me

With some insight from blinky(Sushma), I have tried to analyse why I've not found the right girl yet. And I have answers!! I am a die hard romantic. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am emotionally dependent. I've realized that I fall for women who are pretty and different . By different I mean talented, not conventional. Since these women have these qualities, they have enough on their plate already, they have a lot of fan following, they have a lot of options.They tend to be emotionally independent. This gives rise to a glaring mismatch and can cause her and me a lot of pain. So what do I do about it? I dont know. I cant change myself from being emotionally dependent nor can I fall for someone who is not pretty. These two factors are out of my control. Hence I can only try falling for someone who is not so talented... I guess.

Hoch poch

hmmm.. I am not able to decide what do I write about. There is this huge sea of thoughts in my head right now. Where do I begin. How do I connect them? Are they issues or are they just thoughts. Is there a common solution which can untangle my mind so that I can think straight.What is the problem? Have I done anything wrong ,is it by chance, is it because I am supposed to learn something, carry forward some special message to my next life? What is it? Why this complication? Why can't I be in control? Why this quest for happiness, why dont I have a reset button. I am not asking for much. Is that the reason? Is this carrot being dangled to keep me ignorant. I am close but I am not finding the end or rather the beginning.I wonder if it is the same for all. Do I have to reach the end to get to the beginning.Do I cease to exist when I have found the answer. Why don't I have the courage for the only thing which matters to me? Is it some kind of a test?Or is it in my fate to forever look for the door. Will I ever find the reason if not the answer. Is it really this complicated or is my mind playing tricks with me. What do I do. Where do I find the angel who can guide me. Why cant life be simple!

My first experience at a film shoot

I happened to be lucky enough to be one of the dancers for a song in the movie ' 3 idiots'. The whole experience was really very exciting and fascinating. Firstly let me tell that the crew of the movie was really friendly . People used to tell me that one can get exploited in the glamor line. After this experience I like to think otherwise. One of the assistant directors auditioned me for a small role. I didn't do it well or else I could have begun my career in bollywood! This shows that if one goes through the right channel and approaches the right people, one will get noticed provided one is talented enough.I was moving around a lot in the audition. One of the guys told me this was a negative point in my audition as it distracts the audience. The stylist is one more person who I will never forget. She looked very cute , dressed very well and she was damn sweet and caring. I was in complete awe of her. During practice, I saw Sharman Joshi for the first time. He looked better than how he looks on screen!! On the day of the shoot, I saw Aamir Khan. He really looked like a star. He was so fair and his skin was glowing like a star. It was fascinating to see how everytime he used to pump himself up to get into the mood few seconds before the recording began. In fact all three actors came up with such fantastic expressions within a matter of few seconds. Trust me , that is really difficult. As expected there were retakes but most of the retakes were because of problems with the camera angles. It was really interesting to look at all the fancy equipment they use and how they alter light so that they don't have a major problem while editing. I was called to the shoot only for a day. Nevertheless it was a memorable experience for me. I am dancing right next to one of the characters of the movie. Hopefully, I am visible onscreen when the movie is released.

My Sassy Girl

I just finished watching the movie - My Sassy Girl and what a beautiful movie it was.This was the most touching love story I've ever seen. It is about how blind love really is.There is nothing called right or wrong,fair or unfair. It's all love. This girl, she is so mean to him,she always passes out when they are together,she jeopardies his career,she always bosses around,only she decides whether they meet or not,only she decides where they meet and what they do. And this guy just loves her from the bottom of his heart. He never says no to her.He lives only when she's around.At this point , memories flash in front of my eyes.Wow.. is the movie about me?May be i'll get some answers.In the end he finds out that he reminded her of her love who was no longer in this world.She did all the things which they both used to do when he was alive.She felt bad that she was using him but there was too much pain inside her.She loved this guy but she was just not able to let go of her past.She felt happy reliving those moments she had with her love. This is not how the movie ends but what fascinated me the most was this situation life put them in.Both could see only love and love.Nothing else mattered.

What it takes to focus

I am having a slight headache and feeling really sleepy. I couldn't concentrate properly in my German class as well. And why? Because I didnt sleep early last night inspite of knowing that I would probably be in this state if I didnt do so. I was watching this wonderful movie - The Guardian. It was too good to miss.. But actually if I think , life has always been like that. There is always something which is not in my scheme of plans but it appears too good to resist. How do I focus? How do I tell myself that I have to sacrifice something to achieve something bigger in life. I feel the ability to focus is what differentiates the highly successful people from the rest. My experience tells me that it is not enough if I am just talented. I need to have the focus to give my 100% at things which I am supposed to do. I need to realise that this is the first step towards fully utilizing my potential and perhaps figuring out my goal in life. I need to have shot term plans - say a one week plan and I should stick to it no matter what. I need to be able to say no to any kind of distraction. This experiment of focusing on my day to day life may not show instant results but eventually it will affect my life as a whole positively.

Happiness

Life's been funny actually. I always thought that once I reach the state of happiness , I can then set out to fulfil my goals and perhaps figure out the purpose of my life. How does one define happiness? What makes me happy today may not matter to me tomorrow. My interactions with an anonymous friend has cleared this cloud of misconcepton which has been lingering over my head from many years. This state of happiness is an illusion. The desire for happiness is created by HIM( who?) so that we spend our energy in looking for it.Our thought provoking conversations(with the friend) has taught me a very important lesson - Stop Thinking and Start Doing. It may seem to be very trivial . I too always felt that I knew what this means. But it turns out that I didnt. There are innumerable things which I've always wanted to do in life but I was waiting for "Happiness" to get started on these. But this never happened and now I wonder what was the connection between the two? I had come across many people who always kept themselves busy by taking part in some or the other activity. I used to think that this is a sign of weakness, it is not right to keep oneself busy just to have a clear mind, one should do things for the love of it. But I was wrong in my thinking. Does one need to be happy to figure out his purpose in life? How can one be happy before one does the things which give him happiness!!(paradox eh?) Im so glad that I've finally set out on my journey and I'm loving it so far. Managing so many things in parallel (things I love) is giving me so much pleasure. My thinking has broadened and it is having a positive impact on my life. There is a long list of things to be done and I'm really excited about it. I've never been happier in my life

Love & Relationship

The lights are dim,soothing music playing in the background with the cool air of the ac giving one shivers, lots of whispers and other 'noises' in the background....... Dirtymind :P this is the scene I get to see every week in a theatre before the movie starts. Week after week I see hundreds of couples, some totally lost in each other, some being just good friends, some wondering if they are with the right person and some with a grumpy face because they didnt want to watch the movie in the first place.
Inspite of the wide spectrum of feelings among the couples, the fact is that there is force which binds them .Is it love ? Its such an explicable feeling is love.I dont think anybody can decipher love.You dont know why you like her yet you always think of her. I feel people take too much liberty with the word love. Ultimately we humans are self centered. We all wish there is someone special for us. It is this desire for a companion that binds couples.
Wow, as I write , I am able to explain things which I too didnt understand or had not thought of! Some people say love is all about understanding a beautiful soul and looks dont matter but I beg to differ. Love is a blissful feeling of attraction towards something that is beautiful to your soul. Thats all is love. What is beautiful differs from soul to soul.Some souls get attracted to her looks and some to her nature. What matters here is the attraction and not the cause for it. After this you start liking everything about her and this is love.Later even if she changes (her nature or looks), it doesnt matter because everytime you think of her, you relive the the feeling when you first fell in love with her.This is love : pure and simple.
What complicates matters is the human desire to possess something which is beautiful. And this attempt to gain possession can lead to a painful experience. If we dont achieve what we desire we are heartbroken. Once we possess something we desired , another human quality which comes into picture is greed . We feel satisfied at our accomplishment and eventually get bored of it and aim at something 'better'.
Relationships sustain because of various reasons. One is just the love for each other. Second is that you are possessive and hence you cannot imagine a life without her. So you learn to adjust and sacrifice and compliment each other. Third is that you have put in a lot of effort to get into a relation and hence you dont want to let go of it as you feel you will have to struggle again to find someone else.And lastly some people are relationship clings who just cant live alone. They always need someone to be there for them.
One major question which comes in mind is if love is a true feeling why do some of us cheat her or take advantage of her feelings for us.The answer to this is simple. It all depends on how good a person you are. As a relationship builds there is a fusion of love and conscience . How much you love depends on how good you are at understanding people and how much you care for their feelings.If you have these qualities, your conscience blends with love and becomes a stronger feeling which leads to this state called 'Devotion'.If you dont have these qualities, then love may not be enough to sustain the relationship.
'Anyone can fall in love but Devotion is something above lesser mortals'

Dance Explicated

Dance is a means to connect with your soul. When there is fusion of delectable music and an eye catching dance move, the pleasure one receives just fills the whole body. One can actually feel the energy soaring on the inside. I can compare it to an aura which is blinding people around or the first rays of the rising sun when it is in between two mountains.The more you practice the better you get at it. And the joy is directly proportional to how well you dance. I've realized that a true dancer doesn't dance well for the accolades he gets but just for the pleasure of dancing well.
Dance is also indicative of people's personality. There are different kinds of people in this world but they all seem to connect when on a dance floor. The way a person talks is dependent on the people he interacts with , the way he is brought up and his social circle. The way you are when on a dance floor is what you truly are because you dance from your soul which is not bound by any worldly matter.
In partner dancing you also learn how to behave with ,treat the opposite gender. You end up becoming a better person :)

One always has a choice

Ever heard of people cribbing that they have too much work and hence dont have a social life? Everytime I hear this it makes me laugh . But ofcourse I do it on the inside only! You keep hearing people say that you alone are responsible for your fate and yet they dont realize its not the work which is hampering their social life . Instead it is the greed for money(more work=>better appraisal) which is the culprit. One always has a choice to maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life. Yes it may mean that you may not be the performer of the quarter but then who cares! You should realize that there will always be some work pending. There is no point in sacrificing your personal life for something which doesnt have an end.

Hope?

Hope-Something to live for,
Something worth fighting for.
Does become cliched at times,
The meaning not clearly understood!
One ought to ask-If
hope is something worth living for,
What is it that gives hope.
These are the little moments in life
When one gets the utmost joy.
When one feels within -
Ah!This is life!
When the going gets tough,
Time slows down.The axe of
life gunning for your head.
At this moment, the most treasured moment
flashes in front of one's eyes.
Giving one a reason to live for,
To escape from the claws of the monster within.
Hence,appreciate those precious moments
For they will save you time and again.
Remember,nothing glorious about fighting till death
Because the best part about life is life itself!

Online friends

Making friends with strangers on net is certainly not the same as meeting someone new. No matter how much you get to know about the other person , he/she ends up being just an email id to you. For example, you happen to come across someone new in say a social gathering. All you do is just smile at that person once. But still you feel like you can trust that person. Compare this to an online friend with whom you have shared thoughts for a few months. You still wouldn't feel comfortable disclosing your contact details or meeting that person! I am not here to say what is right and what is not. Its just something to think about. I feel trust is more dependant on your instincts rather than the time you spend getting to know the other person.
Moreover the quest for a friend online is just an illusion . You always feel that one more try and you re there . But that never happens. One could always blame the few imposters who have misused the anonymity which is available. But I still feel there is hope.
If you ask me what the solution is , I would say dont wait for months to gain a persons trust. You just trust your instincts and ask the person if u re more than just a email id ! If the other person doesnt trust you then , its not going to change in the future also. So you have to just move on and the cycle continues :)
